Poker TOC Results....not so good

Dec 1st came and went without a significant occurance and clearly was disappointing.

While the tourney was well organized (and spacious for a change), the cards and play for me, just didn't click.

I busted out after 2.5 hours of play. Not good. The best Ahnad I saw all day was A8. hard to compete with that. And any time I felt I was good to make a move on a pot or steal the blinds, someone beat me to it, eitehr utstealing, or betting with a hand. I just could not muster the courage to make a play even as semi bluff.

I did make a move however, re-raising a bettor's 1,000 bet (which looked liek an over bet to steal the pot) only to have him come back over the top allin. I jusst could not call as I was only A8 having missed the flop.

I was crippled at that point and struggled for survival only to be taken out by the SB with his J6 to my A4 h and catching 2 hearts on the flop, to him catching 2 pair. I mad ethe flush only to see him bust me with a boat.

Dead man walkin!

Onto Season 10 it is........so busy in Decmeber will see me play very little and that won't bode well for a high season standing this time around. AM very enar to 50,000 career poitns so hopefully I can make the TOC for March 31.

Merry Xmas ALL(IN)!

McMaster University Standardized Patient Program Booked: Shoots Dec 7th

This is arather unique opportunity to help the medical community.

Short training films will feature me in a variety of roles. I will be performing as a troubled parent in one, to abusive in another, and grieving in another and several others as well. There may be as many as 10-12 vignettes.

Physicians will be quizzed on what they view and assess the pros and cons of the atending professionals and how they may handle the situatiuon differently.

These training videos will have the healthcare professionals commenting in their respective classrooms on what they've seen. As these graduates and enter the workforce, the value from these role playing scenarios hopefully will prove to be invaluable.

Glad I am able to help through this project.

RBD Direct Investing Online campaign Booked: Shoots Dec 6

Heading to the Red Hot Poker Tour's TOC Dec 1st!!!

Tournament Of Champions (TOC) update:

After securing my 7th win of the season tonight, (my third online this season & this one for $197), I've climbed back into the top 10 in the national leaderboard standings.

My previous high has been 4 wins in each of the last 3 seasons, giving me 19 in my career. I am very close to the prestigoius 50,000 careers point plateau that only a handful of players have achieved to date. I'm well behind many of the regulars who play 90-100+ games per season, as I only get out about 50-60 times. I am happy with that. Each season lasts 4 months. This is my 4th one. It's the Red Hot Poker Tour's 9th.

For the curious check out: www.redhotpokertour.com

On Saturday Dec 1st in Montana's restaurant downtown Toronto, I'll be among 150 players vying foer the coveted Winner Take All, prize of a $10,000 seat into a Professional World Poker Tour event in Los Angeles in February. Love to get back there for several reasons. I am pummped, I am psyched. My game is in good shape. My mind and body are well and functioning in sync. My radar and observation skills are alert and I am good to go for this. I am motivated.

My prediction and expectaion is clearly, Victory.

Stay tuned for a followup.

2/ use of the phrase, "I demand an explanation for these shenanigans! What do you have to say?"
3/ a character facing a situation above his or her maturity level.

The figure head for this promotion via YouTube features Jason Reitman, Director of JUNO. If you haven't seen that film yet, you MUST. It's brilliant.

COLD BLOOD -- Update---Wrapped...phew!

An intense 4 days of long hours with tons of footage. Great crew, great cast, awesome Craft, wondeful wardrobe and marvellous makeup, all around a great experience (were it not for the fact I became violently ill and laid pretty low for 3 of the 4 days). Truly professional operation.

A one hour program, this #2 in a series of 10 episodes, was the story of Donnah Winger, murdered by her husband Mark, who framed and murdered a limo driver (Roger Harrington).

I played Detective Cox, who after 4 years finally was able to bring the truth to light with much persistent and diligent effort by his partner, Det Williamson. Justice was served, and Winger is now in prison serving life, and still in denial.

It is my understanding this series is airing in the UK in the new year. IF I get more info I will post it here and hopefully we can view the program on History, Bravo, Discovery or some such network.

Keep well.

HDTV Digital Box--Booked, shooting Nov 16th!!!

While on set, I rec'd a call confirming the details and we're good to go!

Nice.

HDTV Digital Box DVD gig---good audition & am on HOLD!!!

......things went pretty well today, was a fun bit, felt very comfortable and relaxed. Was a good atmosphere in the room, seemed like some very warm and sincere cleints...fingers now crossed..

stay tuned...

Auditioning for the Host role of HDTV Digital Box DVD

After purchasing their HD TV, the buyer I presume also receives a DVD with instruction and encouragement to purchase the HD TV Digital Box. That's the role I'll be auditioning for; the host of that DVD.

On less than 24 hours notice, it's about a :60 second sales pitch. Be nice if there was a teleprompter, but we'll see how well I learn these lines between now and 2pm Friday!

Breaking my leg..........check back for an upate soon, the spot shoots Nov 6, thankfully not conflicting with my Movie Shoot "COLD BLOOD" Oct 30-Nov 2.

COLD BLOOD --Audition for Feature Film UPDATE!!!!! YES...Landed role as the Lead Detective, Carlie Cox!

.........this American production is a Movie of the Week and shoots first week of November.

It's based on the true story of the death of Donnah Winger. It's tragic. It's justice served.

I am Detective Cox, lead investigator of the Springfiled Illnois Police Department.

You can learn more with a google search of her name.

Clearly my audition well terrificaly well today and I want to share a short story with you.

This project came to me via a Casting Director without my submitting for the role. I was invited to the auditioning process. Nice! It does help to do good work and stay connected, visible, marketable, professional and courteous, even in the face of a disastrous audition. Worry not, there will be others. My point is this: even though I didn't do well the LAST time I auditoned for this Casting Director (and obviously did not get THAT role, she did "discover" me the time before. I got that original "discovery" gig and it was amazingly successful. So do good work and become memorable. I guess that's my point. I'm just very grateful and at the same time hopeful there will be a next time and time after that and so and so on.

The journey has only just begun. What a ride it is!

Offer rolls in...........nice! That's what I'm talking about

I did project back in the summer for a company who produced an educational/instructional video for a medical device helping people seeking relief from vertigo. It's called The DizzyFix.

Everything seemed to go well, everyone was pleased.

I just received an invitation/offer to participate in a short film by the same producers that is aiming at festival competition.

How flattering is that? Let me tell you...it is VERY!

More news as it develops....

Red Hot Poker Victory back to back

This time Monday Night Poker in Brantford was a rematch from 2 weeks earlier and the reverse results came in my favour tonight.

The small stack made a nice run to meet me headsup but I was heavily favoured with probably 6-8x the chips.

The winning hand saw me raise preflop with Q2 suited, and my opponent re-raised allin costing me another 9,000. Oops I thought as he was catching me trying to bully him. I wasn't really wanting to call, but what the heck. He rolled over 6-7 and my Q stood up to give me 2 consecutive wins, Saturday afternoon followed by Monday evening!

TIFF 07

MUST see: JUNO
It's a 10!

Must see: STUCK
A slight twist on Stephen King's "Misery"

Heavy flick: NORMAL
Found it depressing after a while. Performances were good however. Well written. Nice cinematogrphy and editing as well.

Mixed reaction: Candian Shorts 3
Quite a variety of things here. Something for everyone's pallette I'm sure.

Filming For the Musical Feature Film, Defining Instincts set to resume

This project is very cool.

12-15 or so, songs perfomerd in music-video fashion, that all tie together with a theme or focus of issues and challenges the Youth of today are challenged by and dealing with. From parental abuse, to alcoholism, to sexual pressures, stalking, bullying, teenage preganancy, graduating school, finding work and so on.

I'll be appearing as a parent and employee of a school, either a teacher or gudiance counsellor, to be determined.

Very exciting and useful work. Highly creative and inspirational to boot!

Stand by for more on this soon.

Audition for BreatheRight Nasal Strips on Monday Sept 10th

Stand by for an update next week!

Red Hot Poker Tour Victory #2 of Season 9

3 hours and 20 minute marthon today, but I hung in there and took down the winner with J-10 hearts calling an allin about 10 hands into the headsup play. I was well behind the AK, but flopped top pair with the J and it held up.

Today, the best hole cards I saw were JJ, and funny enough it was at the final table and I folded them preflop to a 24,000 raise on a 6,000 BB making it 30,000 to go. But since I had nothing in the pot at that time, and with 4 callers behind me I had to think this one through a bit more. I picked up a huge tell and I was right. A player pushed allin to make the call. Prior to having read that well, I figured I just might be too far behind to risk such a huge dent into my 40,000 stack should the JJ not be out front. One of the two of them had to have QQ, KK AA or possibly AK (even AQ threatened me, rather intimidated me). Having laid it down, the raiser threw pocket 10's on the table to be met with the caller's AK. I was right on the read. The 10's held up, and wouldn't you know it, my JJ would have won a monster. Funny how things work out in this crazy game. I still think it was the right move at that time of the game. I still felt well in control and in strong contention to continue advancing even with 4 playes left to go.

I followed that lay down with AQ suited, min raised and stole the blinds. After that it was scratch and claw (and lotsa luck) to the finish line.

I admit I should well have busted out much earlier however. Here's what happened:

I raised with A3 spades into the blinds, from the button, thnking I might be OK or just to steal was fine as well. The SB folded, but the BB re-raised my 600 up to 1,200 and I re-raised pushing allin for 5,400 more. He called with his 3,900 and rolled over QQ. Uh-oh, I got caught. and then I got lucky, making a set by catching a 3 on the flop, another 3 on the turn and then filling up the boat with an Ace on the river. It happens sometimes. I wasn't proud of it, but this game, someone once said, is 90% luck 50% math. Today it was 90% math, 50% luck! Hey wait sec, that doesn't add up to 100 does it? It's all about pressure.

BUCK WILD feature film looking really good in early edits

I've just seen a preliminary trailer for BUCK WILD, the feature film where I have the lead role of BUCK WILD himself, and I must say, this looks amazing!

It is only the first pass, and not yet available for public consumption according to the marketing department. It was created for test purposes and to gage the entire film's promotional opportunities as well as to secure additional investment and support.

Early indications are strong and favorable, giving us all hope and encouragement for a great run and a terrific, high quality product at the end fo the day.

Stay tuned for more info soon! And hopefully to view some footage.

Another 2nd place finish at RED HOT POKER

Strong play, slow and steady building a decent chip stack and then finally headsup at the Final Table in Brantford, I was pleased with how things went. I began the evening with Pocket Aces adn never looked back.

At the FT headsup, our chips stacked were virtually even. I found pocket 4's in the Small Blind, and after one hour to get to this point of being headsup, I chose to get real aggressive trying to end it right there. Unfortunately, the BB woke up with pocket 10's and it was all over in one hand as he did have me covered but just barely.

700 well needed points! It feels good being back in the top 20 once again.

MINUS 8 shooting underway!!!

Day 1 is in the can.

Shot in the back woods of Newmarket we're now rolling. And what a feeling now that the action has begun. This is going to be so great. Clearly I am excited to get at it.

Personal note here: while growing up my family talked about things and people we didn't especially care for as needing to be put "on the bus." This essentially eliminated it (or them) from our lives forevermore. Let me just say this about the first day of shooting: there is a bus involved (and yes it did have more than 3 rows on it)!

Good work to the kids on set Mahja (?), Piper and Olivia! I hope you will all be OK and have a great year of school. See you at the premiere, 08/08/08. http://www.minus8themovie.com/

MINUS 8 (Feature Film--set to begin shooting)

On location in Newmarket, Wednesday Aug 15th and the cameras are set to roll.

This is gonna be so great!

www.minus8themovie.com

RHPT Winner 1,000 Points!!!

My first win of season 9!

Heads up agaiunst Alex B for almost an hour. Winning hand saw my 4-6 in the BB receive an open ended straight on the flop (3,5,9). Alex hit top pair and pushed allin. I wondered if drawing to make the straight was wise at this point as my stack was about 3/4 of the chips in play. It would have been a nice swing in his favour had I missed. I finally chose to call and when the 7 hit the river, I was gold.

This has me in the top 10 for fist time in 4 seasons, even though I don't play anywhere near as often as the usual top 10 players, it feels good.

I will play 2-3 times more then take a week off due to 5 days of referee assignments coming up.

In the 3 seasons I've been with the Red Hot Poker Tour, I have managed 4 wins each season and made 19th place as my highest final position. Tie for 72nd (season 6), 19th (season 7) and 27th (season 8). Top 120 point getters in Canada, receive free entry into the Tournament of Champions, wherein the Winner receives a $10,000 entry into a world class Poker event and all cash won there is yours to keep. I ended busting out about 70th, 12th and 60th respectively to date in those TOC events.

Glade Air Fresheners US National TV Spot Done!

Ahhh the smell of scented candles! "HuuAhhh" (in the words of Mr. Pacino)

Fantastic day of shooting this US National TV spot is now in the can.

Draft FCB out of Chicago, using a New York crew from what I understand made 3 spots in this pool with me playing the Husband/Dad in the "Xmas Holidays" spot. I'm guessing that means it won't go to air until closer to the US Thanksgiving time line, but who knows.

Stay tuned......

Project Crdit Card--Audition Aug 8

This is one awesome opportunity.....

TV spot shooting in Buenos Aires, Argentina Aug 18-22. Wouldn't that be nice?! Duh...never been... love to go. Passport is in order, and audition is tomorrow at 245pm @ Powerhouse.

They're looking for a little juggling ability so no worries there. They are asking for 50 ish age, so let's hope the slightly younger side of 50 is acceptable!

Stay tuned........

RHPT--2nd Place for another 700 points

J's place Monday night saw Carlos Munoz and I go heads up.

Just prior to taking it down, a good hand was stolen from me, and it hurt my stack. I simply got outplayed tonight headsup.

I raised my BB up to 12,000 on top of Carlos 3,000 call into me, preflop. I had Q4 suited. After the flop came down, AQJ rainbow, Carlos immediately said 10,000. I was looking at him having an Ace or even hitting the nut straight when he called my preflop raise. I stalled thinking my only move was over the top for final 38,000. I folded and Carlos threw KJ on the table, beating my middle pair, even though he also had a straight draw. Who knows how it would've ended, but it seemed at that moment I should've re-raised. Nice hand Carlos.

Then my death came when I raised to 18,000 and Carlos called the extra 12,000. Flop came down 66A, check check, Jack, check check, 10 on the river. I said 15,000, Carlos called and showed Pocket Q's. My 10-8 was not even close.

And the evening ended with my best impersonation, "Player announces allin for 6,000" with J8, Carlos called with K6 hitting the 6 needlessly on the river to take it all.

That makes twice the bridesmaid (and counting?) this season.......next time, next time!

UNICO Foods TV Spot Completed Day 1 of 2

Today in Vaughn I shot Day 1 of 2 for a spot called, "Happy Faces" for Unico. Good family fun that was very efficiently produced. Just a couple of takes of a couple of different actions and "check the gate" followed by ".....and that's a wrap people!" That's what I'm talking about.

Tuesday (31st) has me back for Day 2 of 2 this time in the role of the Chef. We shall see what the menu has in store...until then...eat well!

Audition for TV New Series--Can You Live Without?

A new reality type program will have its pilot air early this Fall and I auditioned for the role of the Host today.

It was improv style wherein I had to host a few segments of a mock episode on the spot. Segemnt 1 was my intro to the show, myself and today's featured segment (fictitiously created on the spot) and the affliction/obsession/addiction they possess.

Stage 2 was another segment where I had to outline for the viewers (i.e. videocam) what the alternative method of corrective action was going to be in order to change that person's negative behaviour pattern.

And finally, wrap up the show advising viewers what the outcome was, and join us next week for another episode of Can You Live Without?

Check it out this Fall on Global. Sounds good. Stay tuned for an update within the next few weeks.

Up next? Shooting a scene for a TV spot for Unico Foods on Friday in Vaughn.

Shooting TV spot Tomorrow -- Project Fragrance

Sweet!

Received a phone call from the producer of Project Fragrance, late Monday evening (last night) and was booked for fitting today. Good thing I had the presence of mind to bring a few options with me, as the Wardrobe person did not have me on her shot/talent list.

With some mixing and matching, it was decided that I'll be the father/husband in the Xmas spot wearing the red shirt. No, I'm not Santa. It is to run Nationally in the US. Nice.

Met some really great people today as well, including Eva Redpath whom I enjoyed taking an Audition Dynamics class by Ron Leach, last Fall. Eva will one of the great dancers. Don't know if we'll be in the same spot.

While waiting I received an audition call for the role of HOST for new TV series, "Can't Live Without." Double Nice.

My week is, Wardrobe today, Shoot Wednesday, Audition Thursday, then Shoot a different TV spot for another client (Unico Foods, this one airing nationally in Canada). Triple Nice.

It's a good week.

Red Hot Poker Tour: Season 9 @ Molly's KW

2nd place tonight. Heads-up I was extremely short-stacked. Built up to 1/3 of total, woke up with KQ suited in the small blind. Raised to $18,000 and was called. Flop came A-6-7, two clubs. I pushed all-in for $35,000. Big stack said, "I have a straight draw". He thought for about 10 seconds, then called me with 10-8. He showed a gutshot straight draw. Turn was a blank, and the river filled his straight with a 9 - game over.
